DOC 234—34/2
DES CMPLX: 2025
JAN/FEB: 20-15This project explores the factors driving East Austin’s housing issue, highlighting the historical policies, economic forces, and social impacts shaping the issue. My goal was to create a visually compelling and accessible map that breaks down the complexity of gentrification, feedback loops, and potential interventions.
Throughout this project and my research, I learned how policy decisions and market trends intertwine to shape urban landscapes. I designed the map to prioritize hierarchy, using color coding and structured paths to guide viewers through the information. My biggest challenge was simplifying an intricate issue while maintaining depth and nuance.
